YHA Retaining Wall & Bulk Earthworks
Queenstown
Civil Construction were awarded the tender to construct a steel UC and timber retaining wall at the rear of the YHA hostel site on the Queenstown Lakefront.
In addition, it was required to complete bulk earthworks in the steep gully on council reserve land behind the building to stabilise the slope and make an accessible pathway for the public.
On top of these tricky conditions, a heritage listed Beacon was situated on site and needed protection.
The project won the 2019 Hynds Construction Awards Category B.
